Guide to AToN Center in Encinitas California
AToN Center Detox Program Overview
AToN Center’s rehab is a sanctuary staffed with highly trained psychologists and recovery personnel that provides a high-quality addiction recovery program. AToN Center’s high clinician to resident ratio (1:2) allows for daily individualized treatment for the clients.. AToN Center recognizes that a single modality doesn’t successfully meet the needs of every individual that is seeking recovery, therefore we offer a multitude of best practice addiction treatment methods in order to capture the needs of each client, including those with co-occurring mental health diagnoses.
AToN Center is a licensed, certified and accredited residential treatment facility that provides residential and detox services. All of their rehab programs include daily individual therapy, as well as four comprehensive holistic treatment services every week. They have an on-site gym and provide weekly offsite exposure activities.
They also provide a cognitive behavioral emphasis to all group and individual sessions and encourage participation in family therapy. In addition, biofeedback, EMDR, and trauma-informed counseling, as well as recreational and exposure sessions complement their core curriculum. Residents at AToN Center may choose which program(s) make the most sense for them whether it is their 12 Step rehab program or their non 12 Step rehab program. AToN Center believes in cooperating with residents to achieve a recovery philosophy that works in their life.
AToN Center Alcohol Detox Program
AToN’s alcohol treatment center recognizes that a comfortable and safe detoxification is an important component of treatment for those who are dependent on alcohol. The intake staff screens in advance the new admissions for the need for detox, and then again more thoroughly by both the Program Director or covering psychologist and a consulting Medical Doctor upon admission.
The staff provides close monitoring and ensures the comfort of residents during the withdrawal phase. They have a ratio of 3 staff to 1 resident so they can uniquely to attend to the comfort of their residents during the detox phase. If a client is to be placed on a detoxification procedure, the client is observed very closely for the first 36 hours of treatment and thereafter, residents are observed every 30 minutes throughout a resident’s stay. If ever there’s a medical complication, all staff are trained on emergency protocol that includes 24/7 consultation access to a medical doctor, and they can arrange for a quick transfer to their local emergency room, or acute care hospital if needed.
Alcohol detoxification is typically treated with a benzodiazepine taper such as Librium or Valium as well as “comfort medications” that include medications that aid sleep problems, nausea/vomiting, and anxiety. The detoxification time frame depends upon factors such as other substances of use, length of use, quantity, and frequency, and prior detoxification symptom information. It is dangerous to detox from alcohol without proper medical supervision, and AToN Center collaborates with consulting doctors in order to determine the best treatment plan for each individual.
AToN Center Heroin Detox Program
A comfortable and safe detoxification is an important component of heroin addiction treatment. The intake staff screens in advance the new admissions for the need for detox, and then again more thoroughly by both the Program Director or covering psychologist and a consulting Medical Doctor upon admittance.
Heroin withdrawal may be addressed with medication like Suboxone (which is a partial opioid agonist with naloxone). Administering Suboxone requires a special permission and registration, and it is only available through certified doctors. Sometimes the use of Suboxone is supplemented with Clonidine that aids chills and the associated high blood pressure. Other non-addictive “comfort meds” for sleep, nausea/vomiting, and anxiety are also recommended. Because detoxification symptoms can be distressing, many people with dependence are unable to detoxify without being supervised and in a 24-hour setting where they are made comfortable and have no access to heroin. AToN Center collaborates with consulting Doctors in order to determine the best treatment plan for each their clients.
