Programs

Adult program Postpartum program : A major concern of women seeking addiction treatment is often their children. They worry about being away from them or who will care for them while they are in treatment. Levels Of Care

Medically Assisted Detox: Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one\'s body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. Inpatient: Fully immersing yourself in a peaceful, therapeutic environment where you can focus on your recovery and healing your mind, body and spirit is essential. The Back Cove Women’s Residential Program and Recovery Center in Maine provides just the environment and care you need. Since men and women often have different needs in recovery, the Back Cove Women’s Residential Program uses an evidence-based relational model with an emphasis in gender-responsive and trauma-informed treatment specifically for women. This 30-day inpatient program reduces outside distractions and offers a safe, structured environment that provides a solid foundation for recovery. It incorporates a wide range of services, therapies, and activities to meet the needs of women and support them along each step of the way as they move forward in their recovery. Outpatient: Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare. Aftercare Support: Recovery is a lifelong process taken one day at a time. To support their clients in maintaining and staying active in their recovery, Crossroads created the Crossroads Alumni Association (CAA). There are local chapter meetings for graduates of the Children and Mothers Program and a variety of CAA-sponsored events throughout the year. Current and future alumni can engage in fellowship and fundraising activities to support their recovery and the Crossroads program. In addition, outpatient clinicians are available for follow-up care.

Clinical Services

Family Therapy: Substance use disorders affect the entire family. Part of Crossroads’ Children and Mothers Program involves working with family members to understand the addiction and recovery process, and how it affects their lives. During therapy women work on establishing stronger relationships and this is carried over into family support activities. Family therapy brings together our client, her family support and clinician to work through the challenges of recovery and provide support for everyone involved. Group Therapy: They offer daily women-only therapy groups that they encourage their clients to participate in, which allow them to connect with other women going through similar experiences. This offers encouragement and reminds their clients they are not alone in their journey and have support. Together women learn how to express their feelings more effectively and build healthier relationships. Groups include Healthy Relationships, Medical Aspects of Chemical Dependency, Moms in Recovery and Living Sober. There are also daily Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings. Individual Therapy: In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life. Motivational Interviewing: Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely. Trauma Therapy: Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client\'s past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Detail

Alcoholism: The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings. Dual Diagnosis: Dual diagnosis is also commonly referred to as having co-occurring disorders. Simply put, this means that a substance use disorder and mental health disorder are present together. A client may be struggling with drug addiction or alcoholism, but this could be in conjunction with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or another mental health condition. The presence of these co-occurring disorders can make achieving and maintaining recovery more difficult due to the interrelated nature of the conditions. Dual diagnosis treatment at Crossroads provides clients with the comprehensive care they need to manage both substance use and mental health disorders. A tailored plan is developed that addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and social impact that a dual diagnosis can have on a client’s life. Treating both conditions simultaneously allows clients to build the positive attitude, healthy habits, and effective coping mechanisms necessary for long-term recovery. Substance Abuse: Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.
